CHCANYS Workshop Presentation Challenges, Engages Health Centers
Dr. Vest presented at the CHCANYS NYS-HCCN Workshop on January 29th. His survey exploring health centers’ use of HIE data spurred a robust discussion on how successfully health centers are eliciting value from interoperability. Concerns raised by the audience included frustrations with where to find HIE data, the expense of data technology, and the importance of informed patient participation in data exchange. Empowering health providers to take action when it comes to data sharing is a key focus for Dr. Vest. His recent work involves social determinants of health issues and bringing patients into appropriate social services.
